The Brunswick High School Speech and Debate Team is pleased to invite you to an MFA All Events Tournament – Speech, LD & PF Debate and Congressional Debate.

REGISTRATION DUE DATE: Wednesday, December 9 at 6:00 PM

Late adds after registration close will be accepted at tournament directors’ discretion with a $10 nuisance fee.

Entry Drops and Changes may be logged in TabRoom until Friday December 11 at 6:00 p.m. After this time, entry fees will not be reduced by drops.

Saturday drops after 8am will be assessed an additional charge of $10.00 per student. If you have a drop on Saturday morning, please text or call the Google TabRoom number 207-370-4632 while en route to the tournament to avoid fees and to help keep the tournament on time.

Registration Fees

• Entry fees are $7.00 per entry for Individual events
• Teams (Duo and PF) are two entries ($14)
• Ensemble is $21

New MFA school entries are half price.

Entry fees will be capped at $140 per event; $210 per school entering in multiple events.

Competition Events

• LD: 3 levels, if numbers allow.
• PF: 2 levels, if numbers allow. Sorry, no Maverick entries.
• Congress: Senate & 2 Houses if numbers allow.
• Speech: All 13 Categories if numbers allow; double enters allowed in speech events.

Topics

LD November/December resolution

Resolved:In the United States criminal justice system jury nullification ought to be used in the face of perceived injustice.

PF December resolution

Resolved: On balance, standardized testing is beneficial to K-12 education in the United States.

Judge Requirements

Fractional entries round up (i.e., three LD entries = 2 judges). The 3rd, 5th and 7th judge must be neutral for Speech, LD, PF.

• LD: one judge for every 2 LD entries
• PF: one judge for every 2 teams
• Speech: one judge for every 5 entries
• Congress: one judge for every 5 entries; 2nd and 4th must be neutral

Fees for purchasing judges will be $60 per judge. There will be a limited number of extra judges available for hire and you must clear your request by 6pm Thursday December 11 by requesting a Hired Judge in TabRoom.

Timers

The tournament will not be supplying timers. Please have judges bring some sort of timer/stopwatch or phone with timer.

Food

Breakfast items, lunch and snacks will be on sale for students in the cafeteria.

Complimentary breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks will be provided for coaches, judges and bus drivers.

Awards

Places 1-2 and Honorable Mentions will be recognized in all categories.

Sweepstakes awards will be presented to the top three schools in Speech, Debate and Congressional Debate events.

Tabulation of awards follows standards adopted by MFA.

8:45 Judges briefings in Judges’ Lounge
8:45 Student welcome in Cafeteria
Rounds will begin by 9:15am
Awards at approximately 5:00pm

Student Lounge: Cafeteria. Students are asked to remain in the Cafe when not in rounds.

Judges Lounges: Home Economics rooms. Look for signs to Judge’s Lounges.
