Registration

Deadlines

Registration must be made by 6:00 p.m. Thursday November 12 through www.tabroom.com.

Drops and changes will be accepted until Friday November 13 at 5:00 p.m. Invoices will be prepared at that time. No late adds will be accepted. Saturday drops at registration will be assessed an additional charge of $10.

CALL SATURDAY MORNING EN ROUTE TO THE MFA HOTLINE (370-4632) to confirm your team attendance and judge attendance to avoid the $10 penalty.

Registration Fees

$7.00 per entry (New schools $3.50); Teams (Duo and PF) are two entries ($14); Ens is $21 (max); Entry fees will be capped per MFA guidelines.

Judge Requirements

Fractional entries round up (i.e., three LD entries = 2 judges).

3rd, 5th and 7th judge must be neutral for Speech, LD, PF

  • LD: one judge for every 2 LD entries
  • PF: one judge for every 2 teams
  • Speech or Congressional Debate: one judge for every 5 entries

Fees for purchasing judges will be $60 per judge.

There will be a limited number of extra judges available and you must clear your request by Tuesday, November 10 by emailing me.

Please help the meet run smoothly and fairly by supplying your required judges, including unaffiliated in accordance with MFA rules, and by providing them with training in the category they are committed to.

Remember a parent cannot judge the category in which their child is competing.

Judges are expected to be available for ALL rounds of competition. Fines will be assessed for judges departing early unless cleared through TAB.

Timers

Please try to have judges bring some sort of timer/stopwatch. There are very few timers available for those who need them.

Food

Breakfast items, lunch and snacks will be on sale for students in the cafeteria. If students do not want to purchase food, they should bring lunch and snacks. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided for coaches and judges. Students should not leave the school.

Events

  • LD: NOV/DEC resolution, 3 levels, if numbers allow
  • PF: NOV resolution, 2 levels, if numbers allow
  • Congressional Debate: Senate/House, as needed
  • Speech: All Categories

***IMPORTANT COMPETITION CHANGE FOR DEBATE***

In an effort to “trial run” the state tournament format in advance, we will be running a 5 round debate tournament. All competitors are guaranteed 3 rounds. We will break to semi-finals and finals for rounds 4 and 5. The software can support this approach and we have a great TAB staff. I DO NOT EXPECT THIS TO ADD TIME TO THE TOURNAMENT.

Awards

Sweeps for Speech and Debate (LD, PF and Congressional): First three places

Individual awards for first through third in each category, honorable mentioned as determined by TAB.

Note that ties in record will be broken according to MFA guidelines.

Tabulation of awards follows standards adopted by MFA.
